We now know that the horns with a serail number around 19,000 were made sometme between 1915 and 1918. When I took it out of the shipping box and played it, I was flabbergasted at how beautifully this horn plays, and knew I had to play it on a gig as soon as possible.

Click to expand.Don't worry, your 650's are alright. I also got mine recently from Sonic Electronix, and have the same packaging setup, with similar serial number. Definitely have the newer metal mesh driver plate. The difference between the old/black and newer/silver driver plate is pretty stark.

Tyll has a very useful comparison picture. It shows only the older/black plates for the 600, but the color/look is the same. EDIT: Phil, I'm more concerned about what the hell happened to the top of your clothes dryer. Hi Mate, I definitely think the HD650 is a better headphone. But HE5LE and HD650 are very different and somewhat complementary. IMO, the HE5LE has more impact in the bass and low end extension.
